So, Jack Smith’s report on Trump was released today and, I think it was ABC News that summed it up by saying that “Voters saved Trump from being convicted for January 6th.”
I haven’t read the report yet (and I’m not sure I will) but it’s not the voters that saved Trump from a conviction, it’s everyone in government. There’s no law that says a sitting president can’t be prosecuted. The thing everyone keeps citing when explaining why Trump can’t serve jail time or be prosecuted isn’t a law or a regulation. It’s a DoJ policy.
A policy not unlike one that McDonalds used for years to justify why you could not get an Egg McMuffin in the afternoon.
In other words, it’s entirely arbitrary.
In actual fact, the DoJ was going to indict Nixon for all of his shenanigans but he resigned instead.
So, why is Trump not being put in prison for his fraud conviction? Why is Trump not being indicted for insurrection, when it is viewed by many as a treasonous act?
I’m honestly asking.
As a reward for reading to the end, here is a video of my cat Hera and her adorable blep!
